Prostate Cancer Awareness Month: American Cancer Society Reports New Cases Are Up 3% but Earlier Diagnosis Improves Patient Outcomes
In recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the American Cancer Society is urging men to talk with their doctor about their personal risk for prostate cancer and whether screening is right for them. New cases of prostate cancer have increased 3% annually since 2014, with the sharpest rise in advanced-stage diagnoses. ACS estimates 333,830 new cases and 36,320 deaths from prostate cancer in the U.S. in 2026. The organization emphasizes that screening decisions should be based on individual risk factors, including age, race, and family history, and encourages men, especially those at higher risk, to begin conversations with their healthcare provider before symptoms appear.
